From the Kobold’s Lair

Tweet Recently I have posted about Open Design’s latest patronage project: Midgard ! And while pondering if I should become patron myself, the plan to do an interview with the three designers formed in my head. Alas Brandon Hodge and Jeff Grubb couldn’t make it because of some difficult deadlines, but Wolfgang Baur made some time for answering a few questions for us. Thanks again…

Khet 2.0

Innovention Toys has redesigned the laser board game Khet. It’s more Khet 1.5 than a Khet 2.0 : the box has changed, the game is lighter, and the pieces are sculpted and thematic, as opposed to the block shapes from the first set. The rules don’t appear to have changed. 1.5 or 2.0, lasers are still cool. ( image )

Wrod of the Week: BATTLEMENT

The last word of the week; crenelation, was defined as a battlement. I realized I did not know exactly what a battlement was and would like to share my findings. A battlement refers to defensive architecture on walls or castles that allows troops to walk along and defend the wall. The guards are able to

Geekpaper No. 4

Brandon Sanderson’s The Way of Kings inspired me to create another wallpaper. I don’t know why, but Sanderson’s style of writing always makes me think of a cartoon. Awesome cartoon that is… Somehow, I like this drawing more than I like my other works. Anyway, here is another wallpaper made for you and it is

Kingmaker: Meet Hanarg Venom Tusk

We’re starting Paizo’s Kingmaker adventure path tonight. The GM is going to use Aspects from FATE in the game and I haven’t finished those yet. But then again neither have any of the other players. We should have a pretty interesting group for this game. And keep the blogosphere fairly up to date as things

Musketeers, Cavaliers, & Court Intrigue: The Card Game

This thematic combat game comes from The Swashbuckler Press, and is self-published at The Game Crafter . MC&CI is an expandable card game with what appears to be simple but interesting mechanics (I haven’t played it). Play cards and combinations, aiming for the highest battle strength. Hang onto cards for the next battle if it looks like you’re losing this…

World Building Part 6 – Get Smart, Get Sneaky

Tweet There is something my mama always used to tell me, “There is nothing new under the sun.”  It has been said before, but I will say it again.  Steal EVERYTHING.  I don’t mean that you should take somebody’s ideas and try to sell them as your own, but chances are, your campaign setting will never get published…

Wife sees tea timer, I see game timer

I came home today to find that my wife had purchased some hour glass timers for making tea, and for helping to speed up our six year old while he does home work. I looked at the timers, and right off I had game gears turning in my head. Man these are perfect for roll-playing
