Video diversion: The Doubleclicks

In case you haven’t seen the video…. It’s from a Portland band called The Doubleclicks.

Review: Eternal Lies Suite

I love using music in roleplaying games since my first GM used the “Nightmare on Elm Street” soundtrack in a CHILL game he was running. Before that we had no background music but I can remember no session without it after that. Music can touch you at a deeper level than the spoken word can and it’s great to convey emotions. I am …

Quick Review: City of Jade, Haunted Houese Lonely Graveyard and Serial Killer – music and sound effects for your RPG session

Sonic Legends specialize in creating aural ambiance for your gaming session. Whether you’re playing in an Asian themed game, or something of a darker nature, with perhaps vampires, zombies or elder gods of old, they’ve done a fine job with their three latest creations. It’s not often that I get to review audio products for this site, with the possible exception of my post on …

Quick Review: Alice in Chains

Last night I found myself in a good sized arena, with a few thousand friends, watching my favorite band perform live.  Today I am tired, slightly deaf, profoundly happy and will somehow tie this in to Role Playing Games.  Forgive me as I wander slightly far afield with this but I can’t help myself. Believe it or not, there is a tie…

Wicked Tinkers: Perfect music for your even vaguely Celtic themed game night

I literally stumbled into the Wicked Tinkers last night when an Amazon search gone horribly wrong brought me to them.  They bill themselves as “pioneers of the growing Tribal Celtic movement, the Tinkers have been playing haunting, heart-pounding bagpipes and irresistible tribal drums as a professional touring band since 1995.”.  How had I not heard about them in …

Get your free copy of Retrospect RPG

My entry for RPG Geek’s 24-Hour RPG contest is now available for free download . In case you’re not familiar with the idea, the contest required participants to write a complete RPG from concept to final product in 24 hours or less. I spent about 18 hours on Retrospect , including several hours taking public domain photographs and turning them in to art for the final PDF.

Free Nature Sounds

When a gamemaster uses background music and nature sounds in his game he always has to select carefully to make sure that the background sounds fit the situation he describes. At Naturesoundsfor.me…

New Erdenstern album in the works

If you have been following Stargazer’s World for some time now, you probably already read a few reviews of music suitable for roleplaying sessions. Aside from various soundtracks there are a few musicians who are creating music especially with roleplaying in mind, one of those bands is Erdenstern . The three German musicians Andreas Petersen, Eva-Maria Irek and Per Dittmann are currently working on their next album which…

Another Legend Lost

We lost another legend on Sunday May 16th. Ronnie James Dio passed away from stomach cancer at 7:45am. While I know not everyone will know who Dio is and some may not care, I’m a huge fan of that little ball of awesomeness. I’ve been a metal head since my highschool days and his music was a big influence on me. I was a metal guitarist for…

Earthdawn Soundtracks

Today I want to introduce a German Earthdawn page that offers some treasures. I first thought about to simply add it to the Link Advice, but it deserves much more than a simple mentioning in the links. Maybe some of you already know the page of Pablo Pirnay-Dummer called Schattenreigen (at least some of my German readers might). I …
