The game is called The Decision Game , and it includes such challenging decisions as whether to take a shortcut across a railroad track, cut school, or join in underage drinking games. Source indicates that Mr. Davids developed the game because …

Purple Parlay—Gaming at the Library

It’s been a while since we’ve sat down to parlay, so let’s jump right back into things. This week we’re taking about gaming at the library. Do you game at the library? Would you game at the library? Do you just not care at all? I’ve been interested in the subject ever since Scott Nicholson released the book…

The WordPress Board Game

The WordPress board game was designed by Eko Nugroho and the Kummara game cafe. It was introduced at Wordcamp Indonesia, a conference devoted to WordPress. The game is for 2 to 4 players. Each player gets a mock-up iPad player board, with a central WordPress engine and spaces for plugins. I’m guessing (nothing is in English) that your task is to acquire the …

Paper Figurines

Paper Protagonists from TFC Gaming are not your standard paper standups. These are 3-dimensional, poseable, print-and-assemble, paper miniatures. I’m skeptical about their durability and the publisher’s claims that they’re easy to assemble, but they are gorgeous.

Wireless Dominoes

Yeah, I thought dominoes were already wireless, but apparently I didn’t realize that Dominoes should a) be of variable value, changeable by shaking them, and b) fall down in numerical sequence, even when they are not touching each other. Esper Dominoes ( source , via , via )

Rap Battles, the Game

Rap Battles from Spinning Hat is a game of competitive improvisational rap. The game comes with a faux boombox, some dice to select the beat, some cards whose purpose is indecipherable to me, and some money to keep score. You have twenty seconds to rap to the beat, after which you are judged by your fellow players and/or the judge. ( source )

Area Code 718, The Game

Area Code 718 , The Game, designed and self-published by graphic designer JP Styles, is a surprisingly fascinating little abstract game. The rules are simple: the game comes with button-like metal disks, each displaying a 7, 1, or 8 in orange, red, or blue. A few disks contain all three numbers and colors. On your turn, pick a disk and place it orthogonally on the …

Community: The Dungeons and Dragons Episode

In the NBC show Community , a group gathers to play Dungeons and Dragons in order to make one of the kids feel less alone. It’s a pretty good depiction of the game, with only a little sneering and some sound effects. Worth watching (you’ll only be able to see the embedded episode in North America).
