Katy Perry Does Candyland

In her new video California Gurls, Katy Perry , with some help from Snoop Dogg, writhes around a human-sized board game reminiscent of Candyland, naked and in various states of undress, shooting whipped cream from her breasts, and otherwise in visuals too adult for this site, so watch it here .

Games Workshop in Review: Two Years Later

Two years ago, we delivered a fairly in-depth review of the state of Games Workshop as a publicly traded company. Given everything that’s happened to Games Workshop in the interim, it seemed appropriate to revisit that assessment. But first, a bit of record keeping – in that article, we made a few predictions on what was coming next from GW: Slowdown in Regular Releases: We…

Second Look—Carcassonne for the iPhone

Oh yes . 2 words.  Sheer perfection. Carcassonne for the iPhone is not only the best looking iPhone game I’ve ever laid my hands on, it’s on of the best looking iPhone apps PERIOD. The look, the feel, how it plays, and even how it sounds are top notch. You can play classic Carc against bots, other players via local WiFi or bluetooth, multiplayer over 3g, and …

Yoyn Interactive Gaming Platform

Yoyn is an entry in the world of interactive board gaming. They make a platform with a 10 x 10 to hold game board overlays, controllers, and a USB connection to a computer running an application. In the accompanying video with highly annoying music, I see what looks to be a pretty clunky alpha version of a product, more of a proof-of-concept by a college design team than …

Mongoose Separates from Rebellion

ICv2 has reported that Mongoose Publishing is separating from the Rebellion Company . No explanation was given, other than that the relationship between the two companies remains cordial and that Mongoose will continue to publish products based on Rebellion properties (e.g., Judge Dredd and Strontium Dog). Purple Parlay—The Cost of Things

Games are getting expensive ! To be fair, a lot of games are rising in quality too. We’re seeing a lot more plastic pieces, and more of them too. We’re seeing better boards, nicer cards, and higher production values overall. Is it worth it, though? I’d have to say sometimes it is. Other times, it seems some games are OVER produced. Sometimes I…

Dice Towers in Litko’s Lab

Litko has an interesting section of their site called Jim’s Lab , where you can purchase and try out new products before they become new products.  Items there generally run for a short time to see if they’re successful or not. 2 items that I’d love to see make it out of the…
