Recently the new game Thief came out, based on previous games Thief Gold and Thief Deadly Shadows. This game absolutely blew me away, as an old fan of the games the only thing that would have made this game perfect is to have Stephen Russell continue the voice of Garret. Though to his credit, the current voice actor obviously took huge stock in the original voice acting of Thief and kept that gruff, dark sense of humor. The game obviously has a few datings, some of the graphics in the cut scenes near the beginning are choppy and feel kinda early ps3 but beyond that in game graphics and other cut scenes have gorgeous graphics. I've run into a few frustrating moments where guards got caught on a layer and I had to either load, take them out, or get their attention to get them off it but these were a rare few. I did get stuck in between two boards once, but I think that was my own fault. The game continues to be challenging, even if you take out all the guards on Thief mode, but on Master Thief and being as greedy as I am taking every coin purse is a challenge. I have yet to play with the custom difficulty, but I snuck a peak in there and it looks intense. The custom difficulty mode allows you to customize every aspect of the game difficulty from NPCs to the cost of items to turning off the map and map markers. As much as I love the game, I'm not as good at espionage as I'd like, so I've stuck with the regular settings. The game plays fairly smoothly, with the parkour and hopping around having little to stop you aside from occasionally Garret refusing to use the claw if you are too close. Thief is an amazing game, though some people are unhappy with the control scheme I find that silly. Once you get into the meat of the game that no longer becomes an issue. Checking paintings for switches, or finding the notes to codes to the safes are all small factors that build up a game that I feel lives up to the Thief name rather well. Now, for the good stuff. Square Enix has partnered up with American Giant to create the Ultimate Heist Competition! To celebrate the Thief Launch, they've created a prize package you can't pass up. 50 Lucky winners will walk away with an Exclusive Thief Watchmen Kit, which has a Thief branded american Giant Sweatshirt, a copy of Thief for Xbox One, 12 month free Xbox LIVE Gold subscription, and a free Redbox game night every week for a year*.
